Endless flame

Video installation. Charcoal, branches, and dry grass.
Punta Indio, 2024

“Natural Numbers is a research project that began in 2022, with its primary focus on the notion of ‘numeracy’—a skill that allows for interpreting reality through numbers and which has gained significant relevance in the digital communications ecosystem. Initially, the work explored the relationship between nature and algebra, using the structure of digital numbers based on the digit 8 as a reference. This symbol encompasses all numbers and refers to the set of natural numbers: the integers from 0 to 9 that form the infinite sequence of real numbers.”*

Fire count

Video installation. Charcoal, branches, and dry grass.

Punta Indio, 2024

The research took place in the town of Punta Indio, in the Province of Buenos Aires. During the trials, photographs and videos were taken where the digit 8 was represented in nature through projections and installations using organic materials such as branches and dry grass. Based on material exploration, charcoal was incorporated as an installation element, leading to performative actions involving fire and embers.

The working process unfolds scenographic variations of the number 8, documenting its metamorphosis through the hourly play of light.
