False hour
LED tubes and programmable controller installation.
Variable dimensions.
False hour (88:88) is an installation that unfolds in a strange, incommunicable temporal instance.
This work invites viewers to experience a lived encounter with the installation, one that strains the relationship we establish with art through both our bodies and intellect.
As spectators move through the space, the representation they believed understood—decoded—disintegrates into elements with no apparent formal connection, leaving only a fragmentary vision of the work. The tubes illuminate according to an intriguing, mysterious logic that raises questions about the special moment in our lives that this false hour marks.
The piece consists of suspended light tubes that only coalesce into meaning when viewed from a particular vantage point—the point of advantage.
